Evoy and Platypus collaboration paves the way for sustainable marine tourism with electric power
Evoy and Platypus Craft are teaming up to set a new standard in ecotourism, with a focus on sustainable marine exploration. The two companies have recently signed a cooperation agreement aimed at creating zero-emission solutions for electric boats and an innovative semi-submersible boat concept.
Under the agreement, Platypus will integrate dual Evoy Outboard Breeze 120+ hp electric motor systems into its Yacht Edition boat, which is scheduled for launch in early 2025. This marks an important step towards a more environmentally friendly future for marine tourism and research.
Platypus Craft is known for its unique concept of semi-submersible boats, which feature catamaran hulls and a specially designed basket that lowers five passengers below the water surface. This allows them to explore marine life without the need for a diving license, thanks to easy-to-use breathing equipment. A prototype has already been tested in the Mediterranean, where the boats have shown great potential in ecotourism and marine research projects.
Evoy electric engine systems offer significant environmental benefits. With zero emissions during operation and no pollution from fuel or bilge water, these engines are a step forward in reducing the impact of boats on marine ecosystems. In addition, they are quiet, reducing noise pollution both above and below the water surface, thus not disturbing marine life.
The Evoy Outboard Breeze 120+ system includes two 63 kW batteries that provide a top speed of 25 knots and a cruising speed of 15 knots. When the basket is submerged, the boat can travel at three to five knots, with a range of between 30 and 80 nautical miles, making it ideal for both short and longer trips.
This partnership between Evoy and Platypus shows a strong future for sustainable solutions in marine tourism, where technology makes it possible to enjoy nature without harming it.
